Install instructions

Here are some things to do after downloading the game.
On windows and linux, extract the contents into a folder, for example: The Tornado Chicken.

Note for mac users: The application is not signed, so on modern versions of mac, the application will be blocked by gatekeeper.

To unblock the application, open the terminal. Then, type without quotes, "cd /applications/Ttc.app/Contents/Macos" to move to the game's directory. And finally, type without quotes, "chmod +x Ttc".

For this to work, Ttc should be in the applications folder before unblocking it.
Now, you can go to finder, open settings, find system settings, then privacy / security. You will be able to unblock the application from there.

Note for android users: Since this game is not being installed from play store, you will have to allow installing apps from other sources on your settings. There are different ways of doing this, depending on your android system.

One way of doing this is going to settings, find privacy / security, and enable allow apps from untrusted sources. You will also have to turn off your screen reader inorder to play the game propperly.

An option called "Learn touch screen gestures" is available on the main menu, which can be used to learn the different gestures you can do on the screen and their equivalent keyboard commands.
Right now, the android version cannot save the game settings, but hopefully, it will be able to, soon.

Please give us a choice to disable the disks, its getting old and making the game frustrating, can't focus on them and other things at once.

Hi! I did not notice this immediately, sorry about that. Great suggestion though, I will see what I can do!

I love this game, my favorite thing is the bird feather. I do not like the flying discs though, they are very hard to block for me and I've been killed quickly by them. Its impossible to block something while you're trying to do something else, that's if you put the wing up at the right time.

Hi! Great news! I just wanted to let you know I finally got the game to work on the mac. Yay! It turns out the first command I was typing was incorrect. Here is what I typed:

cd /applications/Ttc.app/Contents/Macos

chmod +x Ttc

That did the trick. Thank you so much for being patient with me while I was attempting to figure this out. I have only played 1 game so far, but I love it a lot. I tavelled a distance of over 500 feet.

Hey! Nice to hear that the game finally worked, I am very happy for you! It's always good to get something working. I know for sure, because those game systems can sometimes be stubbern! And also, 500 feet is awesome for a first try. Keep it up! You might find those treasures... :)

Hi again! I don't see why copying the game to the applications folder could cause a problem, because that sounds like a good thing to do. And I am glad that you are determined to make the game run. Determination is a good thing to have! I will ask around for other ways of running applications on mac. In the meantime, if you have windows, linux or android, you can run the game on those platforms too. Right now, those are the only things I can think of for you to experience the game. I don't really know much about the mac operating system, because I do not have it. But even so, I will try to figure out what the problem is. Thanks!

Hello. I am attempting to play this game on my Mac. Unfortunately, I am running into some issues. I followed the instructions and typed the commands exactly as they appear after opening the terminal. However, I am informed that no such directory exists after I type the first command, and that no such mod exists after typing the second command. I don't know what else to try. Would it be possible to display the mac version as a .dmg disk image, instead of a zip file? I am attempting to run the game on an M4 Macbook Pro. Many thanks for any assistance you can provide.

Hi! Sorry for not noticeing this sooner. I did some reading about opening unsigned apps, and here are the suggestions I could find.
Go to system settings, then privacy and security. There should be the blocked application at the bottom, and a button that says "Open anyway". The prompt for the application will appear, and all you have to do is click open. After that, the app will not be blocked again.
If you are opening an unsigned application for the first time, control plus click or control plus enter can allow you to open the app and not block it in the future.
That is all. I hope that these suggestions can help you run the game. Let me know if there are any more problems. Thank you! :)

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, I still cannot run the game. The blocked app does not appear at the bottom when I open system settings, privacy and security, even though I have my setting set to "allow apps from anywhere". I am running Mac OS Sequoia 15.3. I honestly do not know what the solution is here.

Oh, this is strange. The game should run there. Maybe, it got deleted by the system? If not, then I don't know.
I have someone test the game, and it was running fine. I think their mac version is also sequoia, and they used the steps I have given to open it.
In the past, they mentioned a command that they used. Unfortunately, I cannot remember the entire command, but it begins with xattr. It has something to do with modifying the application's permission? I am not sure though.
In case it did not work, I found another command. This is a little more powerful than the other, and maybe, you have tried this one already. But if not, here it is.
sudo spctl --master-disable
That will disable gatekeeper, and make the anywhere option available in the privacy and security settings for installing apps. Once you are done, you can input the same command, replacing the last part with enable. Be careful with that one, because any applications can be installed after you turn it on!
Those are the only solutions I can find. You can try experimenting with other nvgt games to see if they will run on your computer. If you know some friends that might be able to help you, try reaching out to them. Thank you, and I hope that you will be able to play the game soon!

Thank you for your reply. I have already tried all of your suggestions, but unfortunately they did not work. I have all of Mason Armstrong's Mac games on here and they work just fine. I used the xattr command in terminal to activate these. I copied the game to my applications folder before attempting the commands you gave on this page. Was this the incorrect thing to do? Unfortunately, I don't know of any other mac gamers who have downloaded this game. I am determined to get the game working.

Hi again! I don't think that copying the game to your applications folder should cause a problem, because it sounds like a good thing to do. I do not have much knowledge on the mac operating system, do to not having access to it. Even so, I will try to figure out why this problem is happening. That is all, thanks!

Update. If you managed to see the first version of my earlier reply, it got trunkated for some reason. It is fixed now.

Hey, so glad that it’s finally coming to linux! :o Unfortunately, upon running the program, I get the following output:

Compilation error: file:
line: 0 (0)
ERROR: LoadByteCode failed. The bytecode is invalid. Number of bytes read from stream: 4

Based on my limited knowledge of nvgt, it sounds like somehow the bytecode, in other words the compiled angelscript, didn’t get properly added to the game. I’d ask someone who knows more about nvgt or better, someone who develops it, but at this point it seems that on linux it’s kinda borked haha.

-Michael.

Hello! I just updated the linux version along with everything else, and it ran on a beta tester's machine. But that machine could just be vm-ware. Feel free to try though, maybe it will run for you! And advanced merry christmas!

It runs, i actually downloaded the build yesterday and it works! Merry christmas to you too, and thanks for linux support! :D

You're welcome!

Some suggestions:

1. Add a high score menu and a statistics menu to track general stats from all games played.

2. Achievements to be unlocked, and dedicated menu to view the achievements we unlock as we play the game.

Hello, and thank you for the suggestions! I am not sure if it will work on different platforms though.

Hiya, This game looks really cool, however I run linux, and to make a long story short, an update to nvgt in august made it so nvgt games won’t run under wine, a windows compatibility layer for linux, because sapi installation support for wine 64bit is broken at this time. I wonder if it would be possible to make a linux version, kind of like you made a mac version? This would be most wonderful, as I and several other friends who use linux would love to play this game. Btw, if you haven’t thought about making this game pay what you want, so people could download it for free, or pay what they think its worth, I know you’d get some sails from us that use linux if we can play it :-). Looking forward to your response. -Michael.

Hello! Thank you for trying the game and for your feedback. As for the game being cross platform, it is a bit hard, do to me not having a mac or linux. Fortunately, there are some people who could beta test the game in those platforms, so I will see what I can do. And nvgt recently made it possible for games to run on android, something I can try on my own. I am hoping to make the game available somewhere else before 2025. That is all, and thank you again.
